NUUG-presentasjon 2010-09-14: Perl 6: For the little tools and the large applications

Norwegian Unix User Group (NUUG) inviterer til medlemsmøte i NUUG Oslo 
og NUUG Stavanger. Alle medlemmer og ikke-medlemmer er velkomne. 
Arrangementet er gratis. Etter foredraget (fra ca. 19:45) blir det 
sosialt samvær.

Tid:  Tirsdag 14. september 2010 kl. 18.30

Sted: Høgskolen i Oslo, Pilestredet 35 og
       Atea Stavanger, Stadionparken (Viking Stadion), Jåttåvågveien 7,
       Stavanger.

Presentasjonen starter presis, og dørene inn til auditoriet er låst, 
så det er lurt å komme før 18:30 mens det er folk i døra til å slippe 
deltagerne inn. Møtet i Stavanger vil overføre video fra Oslo til 
storskjerm.

Månedens tema er: «Perl 6: For the little tools and the large 
applications» med Jonathan Worthington. Foredraget vil foregå på 
engelsk:

    One goal for Perl 6 is to make building large and maintainable
    applications far easier. But does that mean sacrificing on being
    able to build little tools? Thankfully, Perl 6 is working hard to
    do well in that area too. In this talk, I'll show examples of how
    various features of Perl 6 make things easier for those writing
    one liners, those writing small tools and those writing much
    larger things. The easy things will become easier, and the hard
    things more in reach.

Om Jonathan Worthington:

    Jonathan is originally from England, but more recently has been
    working his way through living in European countries that begin
    with an "S". After a warm winter in Spain and two lovely years
    spent in beautiful Slovakia, he's now reached Sweden, where he
    confuses people in the pleasant university city of Lund by being
    a foreigner living there who isn't a student. In the Perl world,
    Jonathan is best known as one of the key developers of the Rakudo
    Perl 6 compiler. His work has focused on the object model, type
    system, multiple dispatch and signatures. He's a regular speaker
    in the European Perl Conference and Workshop scene, and finds any
    invite to come and speak and enjoy a few beers with the local Perl
    hackers hard to resist. When he's not hacking away on something,
    Jonathan loves to travel the world, go for walks, study natural
    languages, look at lolcats, eat curry or just relax with friends
    over a good beer.
