I understand your view, but my proposal was not to try to make ISO
happy, but to make the people interested in standardizing this happy.
And ISO is nothing without the people volunteering to work within ISO.
The people involved might not be there to please ISO, but to get a
useful standard.  Perhaps they are not aware of alternative approaches
to standardization like IETF and ECMA, which both seem like more forward
leaning standard organizations to me. :)

Where can we learn more about the task force being formed?  The URL you
sent had very little information.
