Hello translators
We are some people from norway working through the skolelinux project [1], [2]. We have our own cvs repository for KDE translations and other warious free software projects [3]. We are currently using the normal translation tools to translate our po files (kbabel, po-edit, etc...).
Now we are looking for a tool that makes us able to translate through a browser. This will enable more people to join in and contribute.
I have taken a look at pootle [4] and I see that Norwegian Bokmaal and Norwegian are added as languages. Under Norwegian there is only Gaim, and under Norwegian Bokmaal there is KDE, firefox and other applications.
I have some questions about this tool and how it is organised. 1. How can we add languages, in Norway we have two languages, Norwegian Bokmål and Norwegian Nynorsk. The norwegian entry in pootle is misleading and should be removed, the translations of Gaim should be moved to norwegian bokmaal. Norwegian nynorsk should be added as a language, and we would like to add our translations if we find it useful to use pootle.
2. How can I see a list of contributors in pootle. I would like to know who are doing work in norwegian languages so that we can coordinate with our work in skolelinux.
3. How are you committing the work upstream to KDE and others. Would it be possible to commit the work through our cvs, so that all norwegian contributions are coordinated through our cvs?
4. Are there any kind of versioning system in pootle, so that it is possible to roll back translations that has been destroyed or otherwise hampred with.
5. I allso find it hard to navigate through files. It should be possible to jump to a given msgid number in the po file, and jump to next untranslated or fuzzy string. It should also be possible to mark translations fuzzie, if we find translations that need reviewing or are not sure if a translation is ok.
