Hi,
I wrote a proposal for several extensions to Gettext which would lead to a single message format through all environments (programming languages, foundation libraries) and provide extra capabilities to both translators and programmers. I called the sum of it "generalized Gettext". The text is here:

I would like to hear what you think of this, both of the overall concepts and any of the details.
(It would be especially nice if someone could sketch the C interface, based on the "Argument Capturing" section. Even if just as an exercise.)
