Hm, so no-one replied for Norwegian Bokmål (nb) yet. That is sad.
I do not follow debian-i18n, and do not plan to do it either. I am not really the coordinator for this language, thought I've pushed the translators a bit earlier. I want others to take responsibility, as I am busy with lots of other tasks.

Terance Sola has translated the installer for Ubuntu. As far as I know, the installer is the same for Sarge. Colin Watson (colin.watson@canonical.com) should know about this.

What work is asked for? * Translation i done by translators on this list * Update of the files is done by Håvard Korsvoll, as far as I know.
I also have contributed in the translation of the installer, but have not looked into it for some time. I dont know how much work it is, but maybe this information is on another mailing list? (Debian-zzxx?)
I would suggest that all translations will be made in *one* place only to prevent doble effort. If all translators of the installer could agree to use for instance the Skolelinux CVS then the coordination would be much easier.

That is not very ideal or comfortable for us who have gotten used to and are comfortable with Rosetta. What we have to do, though, is to find some way to coordinate, so that we don't do double work.
Are there any complete list over packages translated by Skolelinux/National Translation project? Do any of them translate packages totally separate from Gnome or KDE/Debian?

Well, selecting one authorative location for translation files are going to be inconvient for those who do not get to keep their current location. No surprises there. The question is more how to reduce the inconvenience and how to select the best authorative source. :)

I am in conversation with Christian Perrier and Dafydd Harris here in Helsinki, and I will discuss with them possible solutions, and get their opinions. I agree with them that using either Rosetta or CVS should not prove a problem for the coordination. I suppose there will be an announced discussion during the week some time, and hope other present here in HEL will attend.

I actually don't remember how you ended up being listed as nb "coordinator" (or first contact...). ;-). There was probably a reason..

Well, no - I did finish a few files and sent them in as wishlist bugs. I will go get an Alioth account and go on from there. (summer vacation coming up, most of the time without net access .. )

OK, fine. If someone feels that being listed as "backup" could help, please notify me (in that list is enough). Karianne suggested the Ubuntu translator, which actually could be a good idea as the Ubuntu and the Debian translators are developed by the same people. There are even efforts to reduce the number of "branding" in strings so that fewer strings are different in both distributions.
